Among the very tech savvy university undergraduates, at TADHack this year, team “Api Kawruda” took everybody’s attention, with just three members in the team they were able to compete with high confidence. All the members in the team were fresh after advanced level examinations and they were pretty impressive.
The team was working to bring forth a platform which enables users to keep reminded of their daily medication doses that also manages their medicine by managing the inventory and providing users easy accessibility to medicine. They were able to make a working prototype of their product within the hours of hackathon with the use of IoT. Upon their successful pitching at TADHack Colombo, we wanted to ask few questions on how they feel about participating in a global scale hackathon at a very young age.
How did you get involved in Telecom App Development?
We have participated in a hackathon before which was organized by dialog Ideamart team.
Have you and your team done telecom app development projects before?
Yes, we have done few prototypes before, but this is the first hackathon of global scale we were able to participate in.
What were your expectations at TADHack?
As the youngest team, we didn’t have many expectations. We wanted to make a working prototype so we can get some good feedback on our product.
How did the mentors help your team in overcoming problems?
We had some technical difficulties while developing the product and our mentors helped us a lot in clarifying those issues and advised us on how to improve our product.
What benefits did you get by participating at TADHack?
As students, we got the invaluable experience in Telecom App Development, product development, pitching etc. which will definitely help us to refine our product in the future.
What improvements / enhancements have you planned for the project?
We are in the process of testing some new technologies to make our product much more affordable and accessible.
Where do you see your project in five years down the line?
Well, we are a student developer team. We try to solve problems, we face every day through technology. And we are always full of ideas. Although it might not be the exact same product we presented at TADHack 2016, we will be able to deliver a great, much more improved and refined product out to the market with next five years’ time.
With three extremely optimistic youngsters, fresh out of the school, team Api Kawruda showed great promise of future success. Their enthusiasm and positive mind set about doing something innovative was truly inspiring to see. We wish them the very best of luck in their future projects and studies!
